Alice Terry Dryden Jordan passed away on May 1, 2022, in Norfolk, VA at the age of 75. Although Terry’s death was quite unexpected, she did leave this world peacefully with her husband by her side.
Terry is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Joseph E. “Joe” Jordan, Jr.; cherished daughter, Carolyn Ponte of Marianna, FL; dearest step-daughter, Gwen Vila (Robert) and precious grandson, Logan Vila of Apex, NC; brother and friend, William “Bill” Musser (Missy) of Charleston, SC; step-sister, Sweet Gibson of St. Pete Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Born on April 11, 1947, in Marianna, FL, Terry graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 1969 and later attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. At various times in her life, she lived in Wisconsin, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil and Florida.
Terry was passionate about life and lived it to its fullest. Her love for family and friends ran deep. She was an avid traveler and never met a stranger she didn’t like. She enjoyed photography and playing bridge and delighted in raising and showing African Violets. Throughout her life, Terry was actively involved in supporting a variety of organizations, including the work of several churches.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Musser; father, George Eastman Dryden, Sr.; step-father, Dr. Marc James Musser, Jr.; sisters Mary Ellen Dryden and Dorothy Dryden Heffernan; brother, George Eastman Dryden, Jr.; step-sister, Sister Klingermann; and step-brother, Matt Dryden, Sr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14 at King’s Grant Baptist Church, 873 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA at 10:00 am. Private burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
