SpecNext Ltd. ZX Spectrum Next
When I had heard of the "ZX Spectrum Next" Kickstarter campaign in 2017, it was clear to me that I would take the financial risk and support it. It actually was a risk. Problems with the case and the keymat, and also the surprising death of Rick Dickinson, threw back the planned delivery from January 2018 to April 2020. In the meantime, a tight race between the actual delivery day and a looming "hard Brexit" had begun. If the latter would have won the race, I would have had to pay additional taxes and duties that were unforeseen when I backed the project. Luckily, my ZX Spectrum Next was still delivered in time when Great Britain was still a part of the EU.
Only 3010 units of this Issue One were ever built, so this is maybe the most exclusive exhibit of my tiny home computer museum. At the time of writing there is an "Issue Two" planned, which will add another 5000+ units.
