Gardens & Art

After the hotel breakfast we went to the Botanical Garden. I was a lovely morning to be in the garden. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. We enjoyed the canopy walk and the well landscaped gardens with an abundance of flowers. The children's garden especially was overflowing with blooming colors. After I got pretty hot in the garden we went indoors to cool off by going to the Longleaf Restaurant. We split a shrimp salad sandwich and the server brought us a pound cake slice on cream sauce with a candle covered in strawberries and blueberries. What a treat. When we left the garden we went the short 1 mile trip to the art museum. Since it was a Sunday we found free on street parking instead of paying $15 for the parking garage. I really enjoyed the Andy Warhol exhibit of a private collector's collection. Wow, it was plentiful. Some of it was really sexual but the majority of it was tame. He was a pop icon. I'm surprised at the number of album covers he was commissioned to do. We did the American and European wing of sculpture and impressionistic paintings. After walking around for another 3 hours we left 1 minutes before the museum closes at 5. It was a great afternoon.. Libbie decided we should have cheese with the wine we brought from home so we stopped bby Publix on the way home and got a block of Swiss and a box of Triscuits.
After hanging out in the Hampton Inn watching 60 Minutes we then drove down the street 2 miles to LaParilla Mexican Restaurant. This is a large well run eatery. We had a Margarita and I ordered the Enchilada De Mare which was 3 Enchiladas with shrimp, Tilapia and Pico de Gallo. They were incredibly tasty. Accompanying the meal were refried beans, cole slaw and rice. Way, way, way too much food. One Enchilada would have been adequate.
