DIY Maple-Flavored Pancake Syrup

Did you know that you can make your own version of popular maple-flavored syrups such as Aunt Jemimas, Mrs. Butterworths, etc using nothing more than white sugar, brown sugar, water, and a little Mapeleine (maple flavor extract). Sure, nothing beats real Maple syrup but if you can't get the good stuff you can make your own syrup for around fifty cents per bottle. Household weblog One Good Thing by Jillee claims the taste of the homemade syrup is vastly superior to preservative-laden commercial options. You'll need to bring 1 cup of water to a boil and then add 1 cup of white sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon of Mapeleine. Keep stirring until the sugar is dissolved and remove the pot from the heat and let it cool down. When it reaches room temperature, pour it in a syrup dispenser or mason jar and keep in the fridge for up to three months.

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mapeleine
  • 1 Cup water

Boil water, add ingredients, stir until dissolved.
