Hi Lib! and Tom!
Just wanted to let you know that Wanda is not in Santa Fe this week. She's visiting Joanie and Joe in Alamogordo because of water damage to her apt (from overflow from apt. above) and subsequent repairs. SO_— Your time in Santa Fe is totally free!
I would suggest you print out a mapquest or googlemap directions from the airport to our address in Santa Fe. It's 132 Romero St. #19. (87501) It's tucked away and part of the street (that comes off of Agua Fria) is 1-way (one of the original burro alleys!)
I'd suggest for your downtown explorations the easiest thing is to walk! (the plaza, the Georgia O'Keeffe museum, the museum of art, the cathedral, etc.) If you're going up to the ski basin, 10,000 waves, or museum hill, and of course the opera, you'll want to drive!
The Shed is a great place for lunch. Sometimes a woman is playing classical guitar in the patio there. We have a couple of her cds. She's great! And we love the atmosphere and food there. The red chili enchilada sauce is muy picante. The green is milder. You'll want to share a piece of mocha cake for dessert.
The Zia Diner, a short walk near Sambusco/railyard, is a nice place for breakfast.
Gabriel's is out on the highway before you get to the opera and it's a great place for dinner. They make the guacamole at your table! Of course the Rancho de Chimayo is still our favorite, but that's quite a drive (a lovely one at that!)
If you have any questions about anything, give a holler! If you want more details, just ask! We have some guidebooks on the book shelf in the living room. There should also be a little guestbook there for you to sign!!! If you don't have time to wash your sheets and towels, just put them on the washer/dryer. I can ask Neena to do them, or Joanie the next time she comes up and stays there. Have a wonderful trip! Love,
