Sylvester J. Klejna

Sylvester J. Klejna a longtime resident of Candlewood Knolls, New Fairfield died March 17, 2008 at his home.

He was 92 years old. Sylvester was born December 31, 1915 in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late Peter and Teofila (Luty) Klejna. He attended and graduated Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a self-employed businessman in New York City and later he worked as a counselor at the Federal Correction Institute in Danbury. Mr. Klejna was longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed tennis, fishing and bowling. He is survived by his wife Eleanore of New Fairfield, a son Dennis of New York City, one daughter and son in-law Elaine and Stephen Hicks of New Fairfield, two grandchildren Christopher and his wife Erin Hicks of Wayland, Mass. and Elizabeth Hicks of New Fairfield.

He is also survived by two sisters Ladis and her husband Ed Nowak of East Hampton, Mass, Julianna Klejna of Westfield, Mass; three sisters - in- law, Margaret Klejna of Kettering, Ohio, Helen Nabozna of New Fairfield, and Tess and her husband Walter Kawejsza of New Fairfield and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St on Wednesday (today) from 4 00 to 8 00 pm. Liturgy of the Word will be held Thursday 11 00 am at St Edward the Confessor Church, Interment to follow at Mountainview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut 405 Main St Danbury CT. 06810
