Grand Opera done by the Sarasota Opera House! Wow, what a spectacle. They did a fantastic job with the production. All the singers were up to the task. Amneris, a Mezzo who has sung at the Met, was especially powerful and good. Bill and Barb joined us for the evening. We had pizza beforehand on the sidewalk at a little Italian place on Main Street. Three intermissions made it a long night which started at 7:30 and went until 11:15.
In order to get a large number of singers on stage they made the sets 2 levels which was effective with one choir up above and a second below. We were also treated to 4 very capable ballerinas who did 3 ballet dance numbers which were a nice addition to te spectacle. The short white linen skirts did a nice job of paying homage to Egypt, the place of the Opera. Outstanding! Can't wait till next year.
