Ashton Tate Tribute
We thoroughly enjoyed this evening at the ballet. The first piece was the one choreographed by Tate and was the
weakest of the evening. Dressed in red, 4 couples sort of did waltz steps to waltz music. It was interesting to see the ballerinas do a
waltz box on point. The motion in general was circular. Costumes were frilly dresses with girls with long shoulder length hair and ribbons.
The second piece was 4 couples doing many pas de deuxs. It showed various ranges of romantic interludes including sex or equivalent pairing. The
range of motion tended to be in diagonals, with all 4 lined diagonally and generally dancing diagonally. Costumes were a pale blue and were pretty. Girls had their hair tied in buns.
The last number was spectacular and involved the whole company in orange and blues. they danced the varying degrees of light of Sarasota including sunsets. It started with full on brightness and then had varying shades of blue, red orange. It was quite effective.
