This roadtrip has some interesting factoids. Gas is 26 cents per gallon, a flat tire needed a replacement inner tube for $3 and an overnight cabin rental for $4 was considered expensive and living high.

- July 12, 1945 Washington, DC Dad learning to do termination of Navy contracts, 3 week course at Pentagon. Mom trying to find housing.
- July 16, 1945 Washington, DC Dad describes drive to DC and tire problems on PA Tpk. House hunting & sight seeing.
- July 28, 1945 Washington, DC Dad learns he is to go to Cleveland. M&D go to concert at Watergate Theater and hear National Symphony and Gladys Swarthouf (sp?).
- August 19, 1945 Washington, DC Orders to move to Mansfield, OH. Dad paid full months rent for Euclid which is 72 miles from Mansfield.
- August 27, 1945 Mansfield, OH Went to Euclid, had a good weekend except for “hot mess” when live street car cable fell on his car with Mom and Sue inside. Mom, Dad and Gerry are all expecting.
- September 9, 1945 Mansfield, OH Found apt in Ashlad, OH. Had to buy all the furniture for $437.50
- September 15, 1945 Ashland OH Dad describes his day with Sue. Sue has a cold. Dad gets a “Certificate” for 2 tires
- October 3, 1945 Ashland OH Mom & Sue visiting WI. Dad painting a kitchen set while they are gone. Dad discusses “points” towards discharge. He has 45 1/2 and 49 are required.
- October 17, 1945 Ashland OH Dad is counting points for discharge and talking about going back to US Steel. Also train trip back from WI for Mom and Sue.
- October 24, 1945 Ashland OH Waiting for discharge word. Mom & Dad go to Cleveland. Mom to Dr, Dad to Navy to discuss discharge.
- October 28, 1945 Ashland OH Dad will be discharged Dec 15, 1945
- November 2, 1945 Ashland OH Uncle Gerry out of service and on delayed honeymoon to LA. Dad is worried about grandpa overworking at the stockyard with no help. Dad requests cheese from Grandpa
- November 4, 1945 Ashland OH Mom and Dad went to show and had babysitter for Sue, Dad goes to Clevelan to discuss US Steel job possibilities.
- November 18, 1945 Ashland OH To Cleveland for Mom's regular checkup and Dad's work. Still waiting for discharge info.
- November 21, 1945 Ashland OH Jerry, Lillian and Daisy all in Brodhead. Dad wishing he was there. Thank you for cheese. Sue likes sunday School, popcorn Sunday nights.
