Tom's Life Bits

We drove up to Bradenton to see this. Renee Fleming was the host and was quite adequate although she lacks the sparkle of some other hosts. The opera is wonderful - large choruses, soaring melodies and the most famous tenor aria of all time. The tenor however lacked enthusiasm. His singing came off as flat. We just didn't feel it. The audience was terrible including a lady next to me unwrapping candy during the whole first act and a guy next to Libbie singing. Yuck!
